Victor Baranowski is a Partner at Schmeiser Olsen, where he represents clients across all areas of intellectual property prosecution, litigation, and licensing. Since joining the firm in 2009, he has advised a wide range of clients, including large and small corporations, startups, and individual inventors, helping them develop and protect strategic intellectual property portfolios. 

Victor’s practice focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters, with experience spanning portfolio management, licensing agreements, enforcement, and litigation strategy. He works closely with clients to build practical, business-driven IP solutions that align legal protection with commercial objectives. 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Victor has extensive experience litigating and managing patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes. He has successfully prepared and argued motions in federal district court, conducted depositions, defended witnesses, and navigated complex discovery in high-stakes intellectual property litigation. 

He also brings deep experience in complex patent prosecution matters, including patent reexaminations, reissue applications, USPTO patent appeals, and appeals before the Federal Circuit. His technical background in mechanical engineering allows him to effectively handle sophisticated technologies and communicate complex concepts clearly and strategically. 

Victor began his career in intellectual property law while earning his mechanical engineering degree at Binghamton University. After graduating with honors, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he spent both summers with Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts before joining the firm full-time.
